From the Guardia's mouth...Cont'd (2)

Unmarked cars and how to recognise them - Perhaps not quite what you are hoping for. There's no way we were about to be given the heads up on spotting them early to take avoiding action or reduce speed.

The need for this informative talk was based on the number of unsuspecting victims who have been pulled over during summer 2015 by cars purporting to be unmarked traffico cars. The victims have then been robbed by the occupants who are of course not Guardia, Policia or Traffico staff.

All unmarked GC traffico cars have the following:
- blue lights behind the front grills
- a matrix display in place of the sun visor in the front window
- occupants always wear Hi-vis uniform
- a matrix display in back window

Incidentally it's the hi-vis uniformed staff who are the ONLY ones who can take roadside fines. If you have an NIE number which as a property owner of course you do have then you can show your NIE and automatically have 20 days to pay any fine.

If you have been pulled over and you are really not sure about the authenticity of the vehicle and occupants then you can call 062 or 112 and give the registration plate number and ask if it is a genuine GC traffico unmarked car.
